PEST MANAGEMENT REPORT

NEWS ABOUT INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT IN GLASSCOCK, REAGAN AND UPTON COUNTIES

GENERAL SITUATION

Cotton is quickly racing to maturity in most fields.
Only the later planted or heavier irrigated fields (3 gallons/minute) have not reached cutout. In many fields we are now trying to fill out bolls. Insect activity is still light in area fields.

SCOUT SAFETY

If you treat the field the scouts are checking and the re-entry interval has not expired, please let them know so they will not unnecessarily be exposed to the insecticides.

BOLLWORMS

Eggs ranged from 0-2000 per acre or 0-4 per 100 plants.

Small worms ranged from 0-1500 per acre or 0-3 per 100 plants.

Egg lay and worm activity is scattered and low at this time.

PINK BOLLWORMS

Trap catches ranged from 0-8 per night this week.

APHIDS

Very low numbers of aphids can be found.

STINK BUGS

Numbers have not reached economic thresholds yet but we are seeing some egg-lay and stink bug nymphs.
