Vol. 2, No. 13
209 South Fifth Street, Brownfield, TX 79316
September 12, 2001

General Situation:
Cotton fields across the area have numerous open bolls. We have quit scouting fields for insect pests. All fields have matured well and it would be very difficult for any pest problem to get started at this time. There have been very few fields treated for cotton aphids. No aphid populations have been observed in any of the scouting program fields.

Defoliation has started. One ginner commented that a couple of fields are ready to strip and the producer is just waiting on the harvest crew to get back from fishing. Defoliation is also a good time to control weeds, consider tank mixing products (as per label instructions) for reduced weed numbers next spring.
